Date1930 - 1993DescriptionWhile it seems as if there has always been some sort of staff room at Diocesan, however, its precise location and size have seldom been clearly documented. The first mention of it in the Chronicle comes in 1930. It should be noted that when I Block and Junior School were first built these included their own independent staff rooms and staff facilities.
The staff room was relocated to a more spacious venue in 1930, which is thought to be one of the wooden classroom (A13) and next to the Hall. In 1953 the staff room was once again moved but this time to A15 which was next to the chapel. The room was fitted with it's own cloakroom and pantry and in 1956 more alterations occurred.
By the 1960s, the staff room needed to the expanded and therefore in 1965 the room was enlarged by incorporating A16.
In 1993 the staffroom was converted to classrooms to make up for the loss of teaching space when the gymnasium was demolished and therefore the staff had to find temporary refuge in the School House dining room. The staffroom was then relocated to the newly built Professional Centre halfway through 1993.
