Date1933 to 1989LocationGymnasiumDescriptionThe gymnasium was initially located in School Hall but in 1924 a new classroom block adjoining Cowie House was built which included a small assembly hall. After an outcry when it was announced that the School Hall would be converted to an official gymnasium, the school was forced to find other arrangements and therefore the small assembly hall next to Cowie House became the school gymnasium in 1933.
In the 1950s, the gymnasium was extended and upgraded due to Mrs Shrewsbury's hope for the students to have access to a range of physical activities. A tender for $662,000 was accepted in December 1989 and work began over the Christmas holidays with the demolition of the old gymnasium ('G Block'), which had been converted into classrooms following the completion of the sports centre in 1987.
