Miss Beverley Williamson first came to Diocesan in the 1930s on a sports trip from Waikato Diocesan. After graduating in 1943 from the University of Auckland with a degree in English and Classics, she applied to Miss Edwards for a teaching job and found herself teaching Geography and living in with the School House Boarders.
After a few years abroad after the War, she returned to Auckland in 1950 and took up her old post. By the late 1960s, she had become ‘Senior Mistress’ and was responsible for many of the tasks undertaken these days by Deputy Principals.
In 1974, she succeeded Miss Crosher and served as Headmistress for that year before leaving teaching altogether to become a legal executive.
In 1986, she was asked to begin the task of assembling the School Archive and she continued to serve the School as a volunteer archivist for many years. A keen tramper and alpinist, she introduced many Dio girls to the great outdoors.
An innovative and good teacher affectionately nicknamed ‘Bill Will’, she remained active in the School Family until her passing in 2008.
